Head of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries Will Speak at the Ukrainian Gaming Week

Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries is a key institution on the Ukrainian gambling market. It provides control over activities related to the organization and conduction of gambling. The institution was created to ensure transparent interaction between business and regulatory authorities by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The regulator watches on the launch of the gambling business and its legalization. Also, it licenses market participants and monitors their activity. The primary mission of the commission is to create a system that will simplify the working conditions of the gambling and lottery sectors.

The power of the collegial body include:

• development of licensing conditions for conducting a gambling business;
• issuance and revocation of licenses;
• establishment of requirements for the state system of online monitoring and its administration;
• consideration of complaints from gamblers and other persons about the activities of gambling operators;
• submission of proposals to state authorities regarding bills and other regulatory legal documents in the field of gambling;
• creation of a favorable environment for attracting investments in the gambling field, etc.

Mr. Rudyi was appointed Head of the Commission in October 2020. Before that, he served as Secretary of the Advisory Council for war veterans and bereaved families of the defenders of Ukraine. He also has experience in management, finance, and international relations and obtains the status of an ATO veteran.

On February 24, Mr. Rudyi will open the UGW 2021 conference, which will bring together lawmakers, members of specialized associations, Ukrainian and foreign gambling experts in one place.

Boris Baum, freelance Advisor to the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and one of the key figures on the gambling market, has become an honorary guest at the Ukraine Gaming Week 2021. In December 2020, he was appointed the First Deputy Head of the Consulting and Expert Council under the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries.

Boris Baum has become a participant in a new edition of the UGW Insider podcast. The podcast is dedicated to the peculiarities of Ukrainian gambling legislation and the prospects of the gambling market. The podcast was organized by Smile-Expo, and Lavrentiy Gubin, Brand Ambassador of the Ukrainian Gaming Week 2021, was the host of the event.

In the interview, Boris talked about the first tasks of the Consulting and Expert Council and explained who will be a part of this Council. Boris specified the rules for taxation of winnings in gambling establishments that might be acceptable and expressed his opinion on whether the first licenses for running a gambling business in Ukraine will be issued by the end of 2020.
