Big Time Gaming, a well-known organization with contemporary approaches to software development, continues to cooperate with many providers all over the globe. This time, the company concluded an agreement with Relax Gaming allowing the latter to apply an absolutely new Megaclusters mechanic in its slots.  This mechanic has a lot of chances to repeat the success of Megaways in the long run.

Relax Gaming became the first company that got the right to use the Megaclusters mechanic. The first appearance of the technology was dated this summer 2020 in the slot of Start Cluster. The main principle lies in the formation of winning combinations in the case of getting a block with 5 or more identical symbols of the reel.

According to the terms and conditions of the agreement, Relax Gaming got the right to implement the Megaclusters mechanic either in its slots and the games of its subsidiary Silver House company. This deal will help the developer to attract new customers to its product. Moreover, it will stimulate other providers to pay attention to this contemporary approach.

It’s worth noting this deal is a new chapter in cooperation between two well-known companies. They started to work in 2018. In addition to getting the intellectual right for Megaways, Relax Gaming was one of three providers that promoted the content of Big Time Gaming in Europe. Furthermore, the company launched The Final Countdown exclusively.

The Representatives of Relax Gaming and Big Times Share Their Opinions

The representatives of these two companies highly evaluate their cooperation in perspective.

Simon Hammon, Relax Gaming Central Policy Officer, commented:

“BTG is a longstanding and trusted partner of Relax Gaming, and it’s fantastic to see our relationship continue to grow with this deal, providing our slot developers with an exciting new concept for games. Megaclusters is another great innovation from the creators of Megaways, and we’re proud to be chosen as the first partner to gain the right to apply this original mechanic in our own games and offer as an option to our Silver Bullet studios.”

Nik Robinson, CEO at Big Time Gaming, left his comment relatively to this deal:

“Having already exceeded our expectations in terms of popularity with players, Megaclusters has the potential to become another successful franchise, and we’re excited to see its development. Relax Gaming has demonstrated extraordinary speed-to-market and reliability, so we know that Megaclusters will be expertly applied in the developments of their talented studios.”

The Features of Megaclusters Mechanic

The outstanding feature of the slots, which were developed based on the implementation of the Megaclusters mechanic, is an absence of familiar lines for payouts. Instead of these lines, the groups of 5 and more symbols get into the cluster and form the winning combinations. More often, the symbols in the clusters touch each other vertically and horizontally (rarely diagonally) and can appear everywhere on the playground. This formation provides the gamblers with winning and activates additional functions.

This is exactly the moment when the maximal potential of the Megaclusters mechanic becomes clear. When the winning block is formed, every single symbol within it is exploded, and four small-sized symbols appear replacing the block. The new symbols can generate their own clusters causing the same chain reaction. The payouts continue to be credited for every group of symbols till the end of the formation process.

The same principle is utilized in Start Cluster, which is the first slot developed based on the Megaclusters mechanic. The game starts on the 4x4 field, but after every rotation, 16 symbols, out of which winning clusters can be formed, appear on the reel. When it happens, instead of one symbol appears four smaller ones that become the part of winning group and increase the size of the playground to 8x8 (in the main game), and 16x16 (in the bonus game).

Megaclusters – a new approach to the Megaways mechanic

Experienced gamblers could notice the connection between these two technologies (Megaclusters and Megaways). Megaclusters is the updated version of Megaways, adapted to the slots with a grid playground instead of the familiar lines for payouts.

For the first time, the Megaways mechanic was implemented in the Dragon Born slot by Big Time Gaming in 2016 and was later modified in the White Rabbit slot. The mechanic became so popular that every provider wanted to have it. Nowadays, the games that are developed based on the Megaways mechanic are released every month.

Recently, it became known that NetEnt would release the first slot implementing this technology by the end of this year. At the same time, the popular game developer Pragmatic Play has long had the right to produce games with a large number of lines for payouts and release them regularly. Among the most popular game titles are The Dog House Megaways, Great Rhino Megaways, Curse of the Werewolf Megaways, and other projects.

The Megaclusters mechanic has every chance to repeat the success of Megaways. It may happen soon that the right to use this mechanic will be obtained by many other providers worldwide.
